I have been a hobbyist photographer at heart ever since my teenage years, and even now I still do not fully understand apertures, bokeh, depth of field, f-stops, shutter speeds or the intricate focal lengths of photography and I am now 58 years old. But now, bit by bit I think it might now be starting to sink in!
I live in Lewes Sussex, which is within the South Downs National Park so most of my photography images will reflect that and I am constantly on the lookout for new scenes to photograph within the Lewes and Southdowns Area. I have lived in Lewes for 40 years and have been with a Lewes girl for 38 years. I have two children and they have between them given me five grandchildren in return!
My photographic vision is far beyond my old 110 Instamatic camera skills! I have had many cameras over the years including a Pentax Spotmatic and an Olympus OM-2. My kit now is a Nikon D3200 mainly using a prime Nikkor AF-S DX 20mm f/1.8G ED lens or a zoom Nikkor AF-S DX 55-200mm f/4-5.6G ED VR lens and a LED Video light.
I call my Nikon camera kit “My Baby” Because it fits perfectly into my hands “Like A Hand In A Glove” and it is not to heavy. It will nearly always do what I ask it to do and it will deliver great photographs in most light conditions, bearing in mind that I nearly always shoot in program auto mode without the flash or a tripod.
In case you were wondering, “Sad Sack” is rhyming East End slang for “Bad Back” which is what I suffer from, My photographic locations are chosen to try and incorporate basic core muscle exercise with gentle clambering, climbing and walking which all helps me to keep more mobile.
I have put this photography website together to showcase my favourite photographs that I have taken over the years which have been taken mainly with my Nikon and within the Lewes and South Downs National Park area. Enjoy!
