Ouseday Raft Race : Lewes
This was the 43nd annual Lewes to Newhaven Raft Race and regatta on July 1st 2018. As the tides reached its highest point, 35 weird and wonderful craft were launched from the riverbank at Malling Rec, and the courageous crews began a seven mile marathon down to the sea at Newhaven. And they all paddled through a hail of flour bombs.
Each raft was sponsored for their own chosen charity, spreading the funds raised across a wide range of good causes. Crews spent weeks creating their designs – everything from cars to swans and rockets to magic roundabouts.
