Magistrates Court Demolition : Lewes
This is the Urban Exploring view of the abandoned and derelict Lewes Magistrates Court being demolished by Gbm Uk Demolition Company during the Summer of 2015. In its place now is a Premier Inn Hotel which is called The Old Courtroom and was built by Jessops Construction Ltd.
Lewes Magistrates Court Demolition
Watching the abandoned and derelict Lewes Magistrates Court being demolished during the two months that it took the Gbm Uk demolition company was fascinating and I learnt a lot about the method and science behind a building demo.

With a soft strip beginning in June 2015, Demolition work commenced on 17th June 2015 using a Volvo 480 Excavator and it produced around 300 hundred loads of 20 ton tipper trucks of rubble (6000 Tons) and 25 loads of 20 ton tipper trucks of metal (500 Tons).
The demolition was pretty much done by 4th August 2015 which allowed the construction of the Lewes Premier Inn Hotel by Jessops Construction being able to commence and an Aqua Restaurant chain confirmed to be the first to take residence in one of the three units below.

I got lucky one evening whilst passing when I had spotted a possible way in, I had my camera on me at the time and I thought “It’s Now or Never” So I decided to make the most of the opportunity that was in front of me. A demolition site is not the safest of places to wander about taking snaps and I do not recommend it.
But the photography opportunities in front of me that day of the Lewes Magistrates Court demo and its demolition machines were irresistible! Solo Visit. More Urban Exploring Photos Here.
