Premier Inn Hotel Construction : Lewes
This is the Lewes Premier Inn Hotel under Construction during Autumn/Winter 2015 and Spring/Summer 2016 by Jessops Construction Ltd which is also known as The Old Courtroom.
I got very lucky here as I was awarded an Access All Areas Pass by the Jessops Project Manager from the first pile to the last brick with my camera.
Capturing and watching the Lewes Premier Inn Hotel being built during the eleven months that it took the Jessops Construction Ltd company was fascinating.
I learnt a lot about the method and science behind a modern building construction from the Project Manager. And after the test drilling on 9th September, Work was able to commence with the first piles being installed on the 18th September 2015.
The job was pretty much done by early August 2016 with the fitting out of the Lewes Premier Inn Hotel being completed by Mid August 2016 and opening on Saturday 27th August. It was nearly two months overdue because at least 22 working days were lost due to bad weather and other factors.
I personally think that it is a well built and designed building that is sensitive to the surrounding area and it will be an excellent asset to the future of Lewes. It is probably the best new business building in the town for generations. Let’s just hope the North Street Quarter (NSQ) plans provide the same results.
